I’ve always been interested in art. I love visiting Melbourne’s art galleries and flicking through my small collection of art books on Impressionism and Margaret Preston. As a child I drew and created a large number of presents for my Mum including pencil drawings, teddy bears and books. As an adult I love knitting unusual things such as an entire Noah’s Ark, tiny toys and a Dalek.
Yoliprints started as a hobby, learning a new art medium I hadn’t used before. To make my prints, I carve a design into lino, cover the lino with ink and press it onto paper. I love the contrast of black and colour you can achieve with printing, the bold patterns and play on light and shade.
This year I’ve dedicated more time to my store and I’ve branched out into textiles. I love making things with their own character, such as my soft toys. Every piece is unique.
My art and products are created in one of our spare rooms, which has a view out to our garden. You can find me in there most days with a messy apron on or motoring away on my sewing machine, occasionally looking out at our native Australian plants and veggie patch.
